Post Care for Braces –

Braces are a normal thing for a lot of the kids, and their benefits are evident when they grow up. Braces help in fixing crooked teeth and also help in solving over and under bites. The better care you take of your braces after the treatment, the more comfortable they’ll be and the quicker you’ll have them show effective results:

-Brushing and flossing – Taking proper care of gums and teeth becomes of prime importance while wearing braces which means that you need to spend considerable amount of time to brush and floss your teeth regularly. Make sure that you’re gentle while brushing your teeth to avoid any mutilation to the brackets and wires.

-Foods to avoid – After the Orthodontic Treatment and putting the Braces on, your doctor will give you a list of foods that you need to strictly avoid. It is always advisable to avoid sticky and chewy foods. Caramel and candies are likely to get stuck and foods like popcorns and pretzels also get blocked in the braces which can cause them to snap. Also, crunching down on ice and other hard objects can also damage your braces.

-Protection of your braces – If you’re more into athletics and sports, consider wearing a mouth guard to avoid any damage during a game. It is recommended to wear a mouth guard on top and bottom teeth, talk to your dentist for a custom-made one.

-Troubleshooting – Even after the best caring, somethings may break. What you need to do to troubleshoot your braces will depend on the degree of damage. While orthodontic wax can temporarily fix a loose bracket, it is always advisable to visit your dentist to get them repaired immediately.

If you have braces on your teeth, you need to pay a little extra attention to your mouth, but the end result will always be worth of all your efforts.
